The Explorer Gadget now also tries to catch Pokémon and spin PokéStops while you have Pokémon GO open, not only in the background.
Available to Trainers level 20+ via the icon at the top right of the map view or in the Item Bag's Key Items section.
A pink Poké Ball icon marks its targets; tap one within a limited time to catch or spin it yourself. It can't run alongside a paired Pokémon GO Plus +.
Other changes: clearer catch summary, a dedicated Appraise button, and Power Spots no longer trigger special wild encounters.
Zygarde Cells found on a Route are now granted as a reward on Route completion, so no map pickup is needed; find rates are unchanged.
Compass and Weather icons now share one dynamic icon: Compass shows while rotating or zooming, Weather otherwise; tap for weather boosts or to toggle view direction.
A confirmation prompt now appears before transferring ★ 100% Pokémon, and bulk transfers show how many ★ 100% Pokémon are selected.
Community Ambassador meetup check-in is now available from the in-game map (via Nearby) or a web browser, starting 15 minutes before the meetup.
Explore by starlight during meteor showers for a chance to encounter Minior!
Minior, the Meteor Pokémon, debuts in Pokémon GO with seven possible core colors; its Meteor Form appears in the wild during yearly meteor showers.
Each shower debuts a new core color (e.g., Orionids, Oct 19 5:00 p.m. to Oct 24 11:59 p.m. local time), and catching Minior gives increased Stardust.
Daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time during each Minior Shower, shooting stars fill the sky and wild Minior encounters are more likely.
Below 50% health Minior exposes its core (higher Attack, lower Defense); at first this works only vs Team GO Rocket, team leaders, or in GO Battle League.
