Egg hatching guide (Eggs by distance and incubators)
TrainingLast checked 2026-10-31
In 3 lines
- Eggs come in distances such as 2, 5, 7, 10 and 12 km. Put one in an incubator and walk that far, and a Pokémon hatches.
- Pokémon hatched from Eggs are level 20 with IVs of at least 10 in each stat, so many of them are worth using.
- The Incubator ∞ lasts forever, while Egg Incubators and Super Incubators break after 3 uses, and Super Incubators hatch Eggs 1.5× faster.
Incubators
| Incubator | Uses | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Incubator ∞ | Unlimited | You start with one |
| Egg Incubator | 3 | From the shop and rewards |
| Super Incubator | 3 | Cuts the walking distance to 2/3, so Eggs hatch 1.5× faster |
Put long-distance Eggs (10 and 12 km) in Super Incubators and short Eggs (2 km) in the Incubator ∞ to save items.
How to get Eggs
- PokéStops and Gyms: Spin the Photo Disc and you get an Egg if you have a free slot (Egg storage holds 9).
- Gifts from friends: Opening a Gift gives you a 7 km Egg.
- Adventure Sync weekly rewards: You get Eggs as rewards for the distance you walked in a week.
- Team GO Rocket Leaders: Beating a Leader sometimes gets you a 12 km Egg (Strange Egg) (Team GO Rocket guide).
Which Pokémon hatch changes with each season and event. For the current season's list, tap the Egg section in the Item dex.
Hatched Pokémon
- They're level 20 with IVs of at least 10 in each stat, so they always get 2 stars or more (How to read IVs and appraisals).
- Hatching gives you that Pokémon's Candy, plus Stardust and XP.
- Some baby Pokémon only come from Eggs (for example, Pichu and Togepi).
How to hatch faster
- Walk with the game open, or turn on Adventure Sync in Settings so your steps count even when the app is closed.
- Run all your incubators at once on days with a '1/2 or 1/4 Egg hatch distance' event bonus (such as Community Day) (Events).
- Moving fast in a car doesn't add much distance. Walking or cycling speed works best.
Checklist
- Keep every incubator filled
- Put long Eggs in Super Incubators
- Check for events with an Egg hatch distance bonus

- TMs and how to learn exclusive moves (Elite TMs and Community Day moves)Fast TMs and Charged TMs change a move at random, and they can't teach exclusive moves such as Community Day moves.
- How to raise your Trainer level fast (earning XP)The fastest way is to activate a Lucky Egg (2× XP for 30 minutes) and do your evolving, catching and raids all at once.
- Shadow Pokémon: when to purifyShadow Pokémon have 1.2× Attack but also take more damage, and they cost 1.2× Stardust and Candy to power up.
- Evolution items and the Pokémon that use themSome Pokémon need an evolution item on top of Candy to evolve. The Sinnoh Stone is used for 18 species and the Unova Stone for 7.
- Every way to evolve Eevee (nicknames, Lure Modules and buddy)Eevee evolves into one of 8 Pokémon for 25 Candy, and you can choose the evolution you want by meeting its condition.
- Buddy Pokémon guide (Candy distance and Best Buddy)Walk with the Pokémon you set as your buddy and you get its Candy every set distance (1, 3, 5 or 20 km), which depends on the Pokémon.
